Faculty Associate Pool IAS 300

Description

The School of Humanities, Arts, and Cultural Studies (SHArCS) is seeking part-time Faculty Associate team members to teach IAS 300, Career Strategies and Personal Resilience. This course guides students through instructional material designed to support students throughout their university journey and beyond. Successful candidates will connect students to course material through strong instructor presence and interpersonal skills. Syllabi and lessons are already in place and need only to be personalized with the Faculty Associates’ contact information. Faculty Associate positions are one semester, non-benefits-eligible, fixed-term appointments with no tenure implications, not to exceed an average of .40 FTE per semester. The number of courses is contingent upon unit needs, funding, and sufficient enrollment.

Essential Functions of the Position:

• Teach IAS 300 Career Strategies and Personal Resilience to undergraduate students in face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online formats.
• Faculty Associates are required to prepare introductions to lessons and timely announcements and to offer instructive and encouraging feedback on assignments.
• Faculty Associates who teach face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online courses taught to campus-based students (iCourses) are required to hold in-person office hours on ASU’s West Valley campus for at least two hours per week.
• Faculty Associates who teach courses taught to students in ASU Online degree programs (oCourses) are required to hold office hours online.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree or higher at time of hire in the field of discipline you are teaching or related field.

Desired Qualifications:

• Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population, including first-generation college students.
• Evidence of effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience in student engagement and building rapport with students.
• Expertise in teaching courses online and/or in-person.
• Experience with online delivery platforms such as Canvas or equivalent.
• Evidence of teaching effectiveness.
