Guidelines – Weekend Incentivized Pool

  • The Weekend Incentivized Program is available to PT/OT/SLP's in a direct (traditional) patient care incentivized area (as defined above) who do not hold another position or combination of positions within the Genesis HealthCare System with hired hours. A maximum of two per diem positions maybe held within the hospital as per Genesis policy; this can be reflected as one weekend incentivized and one regular per diem position.
  • Eligible therapists must have at least one year of recent experience in their field. Any exception to the minimum experience requirement is at the discretion of the service line director.
  • Weekend incentivized per diem therapists will be required to work four (4) individual weekend dates/month or 12 dates/quarter during scheduled contract period. Weekend hours are defined as hours worked beginning Saturday at 7:00 am and ending Sunday at 6:00 pm.
  • Any hours worked outside of the weekend timeframe will be paid according to a second job rate, i.e., regular per diem therapist.
  • If the therapist is unable to meet the required weekend staffing requirements, he/she will be removed from weekend incentivized per diem status.
  • Eligible weekend incentivized therapists will be required to sign a six (6) month agreement indicating their understanding and commitment to the parameters of the program.
  • If the therapist is unable to work the scheduled weekend shift, he/she is responsible to notify the manager to assist with finding a replacement. If a replacement can't be found, Genesis attendance policy will apply.
  • Therapists participating in this program are required to complete a six (6)-month introductory period and will not be eligible to transfer during period of agreement.
  • Therapists participating in this program will be subject to the annual performance evaluation process and will be eligible for a PPA award in the form of a lump sum bonus.
  • In the event of the need to VA or put staff on-call, employees in the incentive program will be first. Second will be employees in overtime, and finally, employees on regular time as appropriate to staffing needs.

Overview of Position:

Responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing structured treatment of patients. Provides group and/or individual programs to a variety of diagnoses and presenting symptoms.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1.    Collects/interprets diagnostic data and its clinical relevance when making assessments, while considering current presentation and past medical/clinical history.
2.    Demonstrates proficiency in performing patient assessment, development of treatment plans, and patient specific goals.
3.    Supervises and directs patient treatment activities of SLP/CFY’s and/or students.
4.    Initiates patient care activities in reasonable/timely manner and strictly adheres to department guidelines regarding a patient’s treatment schedule.
5.    Ensures patient charges are accurately captured and submitted within 24 hours of treatment.
6.    Completes program specialist competency/checklist of expectations, as appropriate to current position. (In-Patient only)
7.    Completes annual competencies as appropriate to position including age specific competencies.
8.    Completes documentation that is accurate, complete, timely, legible, and consistent with department documentation policies and regulatory agencies.
9.    Demonstrates willingness and competency to be cross-trained as appropriate to credentials, licensure, and scope of practice and department need.
10.    Assists with orientation of new staff and/or students.
11.    Performs other functions as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
1.    Completion of an accredited school of Speech Pathology.
2.    Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology or licensed Speech Therapist, from an accredited school of Speech Pathology or equivalent.
3.    Incumbent must have: 
a.    Current Ohio Speech-Language Pathologist lice
