About the role

Cooper for North Carolina is hiring a Regional Political Assistant to support the campaign’s statewide political strategy and regional outreach. This full-time, in-person role is based in North Carolina with regional travel required and offers the opportunity to join a top-tier U.S. Senate race to elect Roy Cooper in 2026.
Regional Political Assistant will build and manage relationships with elected officials, community and faith leaders, advocates, and key stakeholders; recruit and activate coalitions; and support political programming, events, and turnout efforts. The ideal candidate is highly organized and thrives in fast-paced, relationship-driven environments.

Qualifications:

  • 1–2 cycles of paid organizing or political experience, including campus, youth, or student organizing.
  • Experience managing, training, or mentoring staff, fellows, or volunteer leaders.
  • Demonstrated success building relationships with community leaders and partner organizations.
  • Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the assigned region within North Carolina.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to balance relational work with goals, timelines, and reporting expectations.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle and cell phone.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with elected officials, community and faith leaders, advocates, business owners, and key stakeholders across the region.
  • Recruit, staff, and activate coalitions, validators, and constituency partners.
  • Represent the campaign at regional meetings, coalition convenings, and community events.
  • Execute regional outreach focused on trust-building, community presence, and voter engagement.
  • Plan and staff political programming, listening sessions, surrogate visits, and community events within the assigned region. Collaborate cross-functionally with the Organizing and Impact teams to drive turnout.
  • Track outreach activity, relationships, and progress toward goals.
  • Provide on-the-ground political support during key campaign moments and travel.
