Job Details:

Mercer Medicine clinic in Macon, GA is searching for a Registered Nurse for the Cardiology department.


 

Responsibilities:

The Registered Nurse is expected to demonstrate the ability to multitask by working with multiple patients, handling multiple phone calls to include appointment related calls, refills, referrals and authorizations. Display flexibility by working with different positions and in different departments as required. Responsible for EMR documentation, patient care from check in to check out to include vitals, updating patient information and patient education. This position requires independent assessment skills, sensitivity to patient needs and the ability to work and make decisions based upon
education and experience. In addition, this position will consult the physician or clinical nurse supervision on an “as needed basis” for any issues unable to or unqualified to handle independently. This position is expected to perform all other assigned task within the scope of their certification.

Qualifications:

This position requires a Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited program, and at least one year of healthcare experience to include triaging patients. A current CPR that is recognized by the American Heart Association and experience with pharmaceutical prior authorizations and point of care testing, as well as basic blood draws are also required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to apply standard nursing techniques to a wide variety of patient care situations.

  • General knowledge of primary care patients.

  • Ability to perform blood draws and administer injections.

  • Ability to perform Basic Life Support, CPR with a current card, to respond to a patient in cardio/pulmonary arrest.

  • Ability to perform basic computer skills and knowledge and ability to complete medical charting to include ICD and CPT coding.

  • Experience in the utilization of an electronic medical Record for office patients (ex: eMD’s, Athena, etc.)

  • Comfortable working in clinical settings that may involve exposure to bodily fluids, bloodborne pathogens, medical waste, radiation, and other potentially hazardous materials, with appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Ability to remain calm and focused during urgent or high-pressure medical situations.

  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform patient care duties and operate complex medical equipment safely and accurately.

  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patients and tasks.

  • Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care and ethical nursing practice.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, multidisciplinary team environment.
