Role and Responsibilities
The Logistics Strategy & Planning team’s Logistics Strategy Sr. Manager role is responsible for managing the projects for the Strategy team, facilitating all project setup activities, proactively tracking status, and managing/implementing innovative logistics solutions for Samsung. It is important for the candidate to have a deep understanding of Logistics processes and Logistics systems in order to be effective in this role. This role has daily visibility with top management. Day to day activities include coordinating across teams to solve challenges and remove road blocks to enable clean and fast Warehouse, Transportation, and Reverse operations. This role needs to always consider cost efficiencies and automation when designing solutions. Effective communication and coordination is essential; Daily communication to other teams includes: Warehouse team, Transportation team, 3PL service providers, Contracts Management / Legal, Customer support teams, and other internal or external teams.
- Designing and implementing sustainable solutions from setup/design through to implementation/support
- Research new industry innovations and create proposals for solutions that will further automation; circulate costs and scope for executive agreement
- Facilitate design workshops, documenting business designs for systems changes and implementations
- Facilitate the contract process for new project contracts ensuring completeness and timeliness
- Implement efficient and innovative Logistics processes/systems for Inbound, Warehouse, Inventory, Outbound, and Reverse
- Manage overall Logistics-wide project tracker of all Logistics Strategy & Planning projects, tracking approvals, contract reviews, project budgets, status, vendor invoicing, and follow-on support segments as needed
- Create, collect updates, and publish weekly status reports for active projects and for overall LPS Strategy program
- Overall status review and management of VOC (voice of customer) requests, making sure they are necessary, align with Samsung’s objectives, are logged accurately, assigned in a timely manner, user tested and approved, and moved to production on time
- Perform detailed analysis to support data accuracy and maintenance efforts including new warehouse setup, warehouse transitions, cross-system data comparison reviews
- Manage system requests (VOCs), understand criticality and impacts, confirm design meets requirements, complete initial feasibility testing in test environment, manage user acceptance testing
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, science degree highly preferred (Business Information Management, Engineering or Supply Chain Management)
- 10+ years of Logistics experience (Operations experience is preferred, Consulting experience ok)
- 10+ years of Project Management experience
- 8+ years of Process Improvement / Root cause analysis / Data Analysis experience
- 6+ years of hands on ERP and WMS/TMS experience
- 5+ years of Consumer Electronics and Home Appliance industry experience preferred
- Exceptionally skilled in Microsoft tools (highly skilled in Excel is a must, ideally also skilled in Powerpoint)
- Experience with interacting with Supply Chain, Warehouse 3PLs, Finance teams
- Skilled in communicating and presenting to executives
- Bilingual (Korean/English) highly preferred
- Experience with planning, organizing, and prioritizing multiple complex assignments and projects and successfully driving them to completion within highly aggressive timelines
