Summary: Assesses, plans, organizes, and participates in rehabilitative programs that improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and decrease or prevent deformity of patients suffering from disease or injury by performing the following duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:.
- Plans, prepares, and carries out individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve or restore physical functioning in, or alleviate pain and prevent physical dysfunction in patients.
- Performs and documents and initial exam, evaluating data to identify problems and determine a diagnosis prior to intervention.
- Evaluates effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefits.
- Administers manual exercises, massage, or traction to help relieve pain, increase patient strength, or decrease or prevent deformity and crippling.
- Instructs patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at
- Confers with the patient, medical practitioners, and appropriate others to plan, implement, and access the intervention
- Reviews physician's referral and patient's medical records to help determine diagnosis and physical therapy treatments as
- Records prognosis, treatment, response, and progress in the patient's chart or enter information into the computer.

- Discharges patient from physical therapy when goals or projected outcomes have been attained and provide follow-up care for
- Tests and measures patient's strength, motor development and function, sensory perception, functional capacity, and respiratory and circulatory efficiency and record

- Provides information to the patient about the proposed intervention including its material risks, expected benefits, and any reasonable alternatives.
- Informs patient when diagnosis reveals findings outside physical therapy and refer to appropriate practitioners.

Qualifications:

Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
