Position Summary:

 

The Accounts Receivable (AR) Assistant Manager assists with overseeing processes and controls to ensure timely and accurate resolution of health insurance claims.  This includes ensuring all claims denied by payers are worked to resolution, or if the claim lacks a response, there is targeted follow-up to determine the root cause.

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Identify the root cause of payer issues resulting in delayed payments, denials, or bad debt.
  • Work directly with payer contacts to escalate targeted AR projects in bulk for positive resolution.
  • Partner with other Revenue Cycle Leaders to reduce errors causing avoidable denials.
  • Review current processes and workflows and recommend needed changes to achieve more efficient and productive results. Ensure proper division of duties for internal control purposes.
  • Assist the AR Manager with the allocation work amongst the internal AR team on a daily/weekly/monthly basis to ensure all claims are addressed in a timely manner to avoid bad debt and to increase cash collections.
  • Assist with measuring AR productivity daily and monitor accuracy of the work being completed.
  • Recommend best path resolution steps to resolve unpaid AR.
  • Create/Maintain department training manuals and resources.
  • Perform quality assurance on work completed by the vendor partner.
  • Manage month-end close processes to meet established deadlines.
  • Assist with processing bad debt adjustments and make recommendations to reduce root cause errors that cause bad debt based on trends.
  • Train employees and continue employee development, review of timesheets, and PTO.
  • Assist with oversight of any legacy systems rundown and create project plans/goals to ensure a successful transition to UUG’s Practice Management System.
