It is the policy of Ent Credit Union to comply with the requirements of the Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act (FACT Act) and the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) for the accuracy and integrity of consumer information that is provided to credit bureaus as well as the board approved Collection Policies and Procedures, CFPB, Gramm, Leach, Bliley Privacy Act. The Credit Report Analyst Jr is responsible for researching and learning all credit reporting processes and laws to assist in ensuring compliance standards are upheld, as well as helping to clear all consumer credit reporting disputes, answer credit reporting questions and concerns timely and accurately for all three Credit Bureaus (Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax). This role will also be responsible for assisting with the weekly electronic submission of credit disputes using e-Oscar, after having made corrections or verifying accurate data as reported. Performing monthly and quarterly validation of data, reaching out to credit reporting agencies, and finding current online data to ensure that the most current compliance data is being used by Ent.
Essential Functions
- Acquire and clear disputed credit reporting utilizing non-inquiry credit pulls our core system, collection software system, e-Oscar, as well as any other available resource. Make timely changes to member's credit reports. Maintain all data for 24 months electronically. To protect consumer (member) credit reporting and dispute rights under the FCRA and FACT Act and protect Ent from exposure to liability.
- Work with credit union staff and management to answer credit reporting questions, provide staff training and member education. QC and audit staff collection work to insure adherence to Collection P&P?s. Advance our position and lending initiatives in the community by creating new technology or processes to help employees and members gain financial strength by accessing and being educated on their credit scores and files. Communicate Monthly to Default Supervisor any variances from these Procedures.
- Complete ChexSystem and ECM Chargeback Disputes.
- Bank Secrecy Act: Remains cognizant of and adheres to Ent policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act.
Qualifications
Minimum Formal Qualifications for this Position
- Associate's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- 2+ year's collections or related experience
- 1+ year's financial institution experience with an emphasis in credit reporting and compliance. (Preferred)
Each year of relevant work experience may be exchanged for a year in a relevant degree program or vice versa. For example, a requirement of a bachelor's degree in accounting and 2+ years of account experience could be substituted for a high school diploma and 6 years of relevant accounting work experience or a master's degree in accounting and 0 years of work experience.
Technical or Specialized Knowledge/Skills:
- Command of regulations and procedures pertaining to the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Gramm Leach Bliley Privacy Act (GLBA), Unfair Deceptive Acts and Practices (UDAAP), the operations of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), and other applicable State, Federal, and Financial Institution credit reporting rules or law.
- Communication skills, both written and verbal, for the purpose of education, training, constructive feedback, and development of recommended policies and procedures that are both clear and concise.
- Ability to work with members, management, centers, state and local agencies, legal counsel, credit reporting agencies, staff, and members.
- Expertise using Microsoft Excel for data analysis with the ability to quickly identify, monitor and audit trends.
