Job Description

• Teach a variety of courses in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS). Teaching assignments typically consist of four courses per semester (24 credits/year), with a mix of upper- and lower-level undergraduate courses.
• Instruct courses in varied locations, at varied times, and via various media commensurate with department and university needs.
• Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement to enhance knowledge of field.
• Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field to enhance teaching abilities.
• Contribute to student growth and development including student advising with a particular emphasis on supporting marginalized student populations.
• Provide service to the university and community, which may include the program, department, college, university and greater intellectual or other communities. 
   

Minimum Qualifications

• Earned doctorate by date of hire in WGSS or a related field.
• Experience teaching college-level courses in WGSS in at least one of the following: queer and trans of color critique, or women of color/decolonial feminisms.
   

Preferred Qualification 

• Preferred areas of research specialization for this candidate include transgender studies, transnational feminisms, disability justice, sex work studies, health and reproductive justice, labor studies, institutional/structural violence, environmental justice, digital/media cultures, social movements, and policy/advocacy studies.
• Experience growing local community partnerships with advocates and organizations to enhance field experience opportunities for WGSS students.
• Critical intersectional approaches to teaching and/or research
• Institutional and/or community diversity/equity/inclusion service.
• Social justice community/institutional/academic discipline engagement and leadership service experience
• Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and support for student development

WSU’s Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program has over 60 undergraduate minors. Teaching assignments typically consist of four courses per semester (24 credits/year), with a mix of upper- and lower-level undergraduate courses.
