Position Summary: The Hospice Executive Director is responsible for the overall strategic and operational leadership of HealthFlex Hospice. This includes oversight of internal and clinical operations, business development, financial performance, regulatory compliance, personnel management, and organizational growth initiatives. This role is central to ensuring HealthFlex Hospice is positioned as the provider of choice by creating exceptional experiences for referral sources, patients, families, and community stakeholders.

Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Provides direction and oversight to planning, implementing, and evaluating hospice operations to align with HealthFlex’s mission and strategic goals.
- Leads the development and implementation of strategic growth initiatives, including geographic and multi-site expansion.
- Establishes operational plans and budgets; monitors business operations to ensure financial stability and growth.
- Evaluates overall operations using measurable objectives and key performance indicators (KPI), including quality metrics, HIS measures, patient satisfaction, staffing ratios, and financial performance.
- Monitors service utilization, ensuring comprehensive and appropriate interdisciplinary care is consistently delivered.
- Develops and maintains policies and procedures to achieve identified outcomes and promote ethical clinical and business practices.
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and CMS/Medicare regulations.
- Leads survey preparation, internal audits, and plans of correction in response to deficiencies.
Assures that all business practices exceed minimum legal standards and reflect ethical care delivery.
Stays current on hospice regulatory issues and industry trends through continuing education and association participation. - Ensures all necessary data is collected and reported to the Governing Body in a timely and comprehensive manner.
Personnel & Team Development
- Oversees hiring, orientation, training, supervision, and performance management of hospice staff.
- Ensures adequate and appropriate staffing levels, including after-hours coverage and on-call systems.
- Promotes staff development through in-services, continuing education, competency assessments, and quality improvement programs.
- Provides direct oversight of staff performing admissions, discharges, transfers, and revocations, ensuring care delivery standards are upheld.
- Supports staff with access to supportive services and ensures supervision is maintained at all times during service hours.
Interdisciplinary & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Ensures integration and coordination among clinical, operational, and administrative departments.
- Cultivates strategic relationships with referral sources, community partners, clinical leadership, and internal departments to support cross-functional success.
- Coordinates with other HealthFlex service lines and departments to maintain alignment and synergy across the organization.
- Ensures systems and processes promote effective interdisciplinary care and communication, including the integration of technology.
Marketing, Business Development & Community Engagement
- Partners with Marketing and Sales to develop market strategies and collaborative campaigns to promote HealthFlex Hospice services.
- Leads business development projects including key partnerships, such as the Kaiser Hub, and innovations addressing clinician availability and service expansion.
- Represents HealthFlex Hospice in the community to build brand presence and drive referrals.
