Sr. Director, AI Product / Program Facilitator - Commercial AI (Secondment - 12 months)
PfizerAbout the role
ROLE SUMMARY
As Sr. Director, AI Product / Program Facilitator (Secondment), Commercial AI, you are the team lead for the facilitation function within the Commercial AI Transformation & Delivery organization. You set the standards, practices, and frameworks that enable a team of AI Product / program facilitators to operate at the highest level across Pfizer’s commercial AI portfolio. You lead the most complex, highest-visibility initiatives while simultaneously building the capability, consistency, and credibility of the facilitation team as a whole.
You are a senior interface between the facilitation function and the organization’s VP and other senior leaders — translating portfolio-level priorities into delivery execution, surfacing cross-initiative risks and dependencies, and ensuring governance is working as designed. Where your direct counterparts support individual initiatives, you hold the view across the portfolio and the responsibility for how the function performs.
Why This Role Matters
Pfizer’s Commercial AI ambition is a portfolio of complex, interdependent initiatives. Delivering them at pace requires not just strong individual program management — it requires a function that operates to a consistent standard, learns from each initiative, and earns the confidence of senior leaders. You build and lead that function. You are the reason the facilitation team is more than the sum of its parts.
Candidate Profile
You are an experienced program leader who has operated at the portfolio and organizational level. You have built or significantly shaped delivery functions, set standards that others adopt, and served as a credible, trusted partner to senior executives. You are technically literate, organizationally savvy, and known for making complex programs legible and moving. You lead by example and by influence — your team operates the way it does because you modeled it.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Team Leadership & Standards — Lead the facilitation team. Set and maintain the best practices, frameworks, templates, and delivery standards used across all commercial AI initiatives. Coach and develop program managers and facilitators; build team capability over time.
- Senior Leader Interface — Serve as the primary senior point of contact for the VP and other senior leaders on delivery performance, portfolio risk, and cross-initiative dependencies. Represent the facilitation function in governance forums and leadership reviews.
- Portfolio Oversight — Maintain visibility across the full portfolio. Surface cross-initiative risks, dependencies, and resource constraints before they become delivery issues. Escalate with options, not just problems.
- Flagship Initiative Ownership — Personally own the most complex or highest-priority initiatives. Drive cadence, manage dependencies and critical path, and keep delivery, decisions, and risks visible to the VP, business sponsor, and governance functions.
- Risk, Issue & Blocker Resolution — Lead resolution of the most significant risks and blockers across the portfolio. Escalate cross-functional issues that require senior-leader engagement; remove organizational constraints that individual program managers cannot.
- Vendor & Resource Strategy — Oversee vendor and contractor relationships across the portfolio. Ensure partner performance, scope accountability, and spend tracking at the portfolio level; flag strategic capacity or capability gaps.
- Governance & Operating Model — Design and maintain the delivery operating model for the facilitation function. Ensure governance structures are fit for purpose; adapt them as the portfolio evolves. Capture and institutionalize learnings across initiatives.
- Communication & Reporting — Set the standard for how the function communicates. Produce and oversee portfolio-level reporting for the VP, senior business sponsors, and governance forums. Make the state of the portfolio honest, clear, and actionable.
