About the role
Description:The Jr. Mechanical Field Engineer provides technical support on industrial construction and fabrication projects. They are responsible for architectural, civil, mechanical, piping, and structural scope. They provide direct support to both staff and craft personnel. Essential Job Functions:

- Become familiar with project specifications, drawings, and contract.
- Assist with job estimating using job estimating software. Perform job and task scheduling, construction equipment selection, and plan the construction means & methods. Advise the project scheduler on upcoming work.
- Perform material take-offs and scrubs. Quote and requisition materials.
- Prepare and submit critical lift plans, hydro-test drawing packages, laydown plans, turnover packages, and work plans. Maintain project logs. Write and distribute project reports.
- Identify, engage, and oversee subcontractors required for the project.
- Become familiar with project Quality Control systems such as WPS’s and NDE.
- Identify and mitigate any health, safety, or environmental hazards.
- Write requests for information (RFI’s). Track and address RFI responses, to include submittal of Change Orders, Field Material Requests, redline markups, and briefing craft personnel.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- If education is High School Diploma / GED: 1 year supervisory experience is required, plus 7 years of mechanically-related field experience in either heavy industry or construction.
- If education is Associates or 2yr Technical Degree in a related field: 3 years of mechanically-related field experience required, in either heavy industry or construction.
- If education is BS Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field: 1 year of mechanically-related field experience required, in either heavy industry or construction.
- Experience working outdoors in cold weather (<20F).
- Ability to learn and read construction drawings such as P&ID’s, piping isometric drawings, and structural drawings.
- Proven fluency with computers, including ability to quickly learn new software systems. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Current and valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
- Preference will be given to applicants with any of the following: Previous field/project engineer experience in construction; experience with Oil & Gas; experience with Sharepoint, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, estimating software, Solidworks, P6, or BIM software.
- Ability to perform all work in a safe manner that meets company & client standards.
- Must be self-motivated and exercise self-initiative.
- Strong interest in learning and in adapting to perpetual change.
- Strong written and verbal communication. The ability to communicate clearly is essential.
- Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work with personnel from all walks of life.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
- The employee frequently is required to walk, kneel, bend, twist, reach, push, and pull, and may be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally perform inspections at heights.
- Visual Acuity: must be adequate to perform all required Job Description tasks in a safe manner.
