About the role

IAT Insurance Group has an immediate opening for an Associate Accounts Receivable Analyst in our Newark, NJ location.  This role performs multiple Accounts Receivable (aka: AR) and collections functions, including the intake of cash receipts, both checks and electronic bank-to-bank remittance (ACH) from banks, distribution of monthly statements, account payables, overdue collection of debt, and account reconciliation within our Surety Operations.  This role works a hybrid schedule from an IAT Office in Newark. The hybrid schedule reflects our values (thinking and acting like an owner, collaboration, and teamwork) as it requires working from the office with colleagues and other disciplines Monday through Wednesday, with the option of working Thursday and Friday remotely.  You will be expected to work at minimum one Thursday a month in the office after training.   Responsibilities:
  • Batches incoming remittance payments from Insurance agents that are received in the form of a check and/ or electronic bank-to-bank remittance, daily data entry to the internal Check Table, and daily funds reporting to the corporate Finance Dept
  • Daily deposit to the bank including a digital record (OnBase copy) of all invoices/statements associated to properly account for the payment.
  • Record all payments received to Monthly Statement (Bonds) according to standard operating procedures.
  • Processes insufficient funds and stop payments for returned checks. Notify agents and underwriters of the returned Prepare general ledger and non-cash code sheet to reverse payment from the insured’s policy.
  • Provides detailed customer service to all agents and internal staff, including preparing statements of account and year-to-date payments received as provided or designed utilizing IAT reporting services.
  • Processes and maintains internal and external collection activities, communicates with agents, and recommends the submission of past-due accounts to a 3rd party collection agency
  • Investigate, identify, and resolve with IAT Surety Region offices any outstanding balances and account discrepancies utilizing daily, weekly, and monthly reports. Effectively communicates the resolution with all responsible associates including regional offices, Billing Supervisor, and corporate Finance Dept.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
  Qualifications: Must-Have:
  • High school graduate or equivalent with working knowledge of bookkeeping, accounting practices and accepted office procedures.
  • An Associate degree in business, accounting, finance preferred, or 2 years equivalent  experience  within an accounts receivable, accounts payable, accounting business. environment.
  • Accounts receivable and/or accounts payable experience; this includes bookkeeping skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including, but not limited to Excel, Word – other business related software.
  • Strong Customer service skills
  • Ability to perform detailed work with numerical data and to make mathematical calculations rapidly and accurately.
  • Ability to meet daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines, with associates' pressures.
