NCRAM was established in 1991 and serves as an investment adviser to US, South American, EMEA, and Asian institutional clients. NCRAM is an investment boutique within the larger Nomura Group of companies that specializes in below investment-grade credit. We are primarily engaged in managing assets consisting of US and global high yield corporate bonds, emerging market debt, and multi-asset credit for a global clientele. NCRAM manages ten investment strategies with AUM of $27bn and a staff of 47 as of November 30, 2022.
NAM USA is seeking a marketing/sales professional in its Institutional Business Development (IBD) team in New York City. This position offers an opportunity to work in a collaborative team environment in NAM USA’s North American institutional asset management business. NAM USA works closely with both its $31 billion NYC-based credit boutique Nomura Corporate Research and Asset Management (NCRAM), and its parent, Nomura Asset Management, a $600 billion global asset management firm.
Responsibilities:
- Report to the Co-Head of Institutional Business Development, the Americas
- Develop a comprehensive marketing plan around the products and investor base that you will be covering.
- Work closely with portfolio managers and product specialists to enable you to articulate and differentiate NAM’s capabilities to prospective clients
- Have frequent communication with prospective investors in order to identify new areas for business development
- Manage the sales cycle and be accountable for identifying, qualifying, attracting, and closing investment business with institutional investors in North America.
- Identify cross-selling opportunities
- Organize client road shows; including scheduling meetings and the preparation / coordination of marketing materials for distribution
- Have RFP ownership for prospective investors in their region. Coordinate with RFP team, portfolio managers, product specialists, operations, legal and other individuals to insure its completion
- Actively maintain and update the firm’s CRM with meeting notes, prospect communication and follow-up and prospect pipelines
Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required
The individual should have experience in a business development capacity and be able to demonstrate:
- A successful track record in raising capital for fixed-income/credit (preferred) and/or equity related strategies or an understanding of the landscape and investors from their role as CPM or client relationship management
- Experience working with U.S. and Canadian institutional investors, such as pension funds, consultants, etc.
- Teamwork and collaborate across different areas of the firm, be self-motivated, innovative and solution minded, with a strong desire to succeed
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and ability to interact professionally and effectively with internal and external counterparties.
- Willingness to travel
- Series 7 and Series 63 licenses preferred, or completion within first 6 months of employment
