Purchasing Team Lead, Fresh Water
We are now looking for a Purchasing Team Lead responsible for leading a small team of Supply Chain Professionals, guiding, and mentoring the team and ensuring they are developing skills to support strategic objectives. Responsible for delivering high levels of supply chain performance (cost, quality, delivery, and responsiveness) and optimising levels of inventory whilst maximising availability of materials through effective management of MRP demand signals, maintaining accurate supplier data and driving supplier performance.
This position will be based in Geesthacht, Germany reporting to our Global Supply Chain Director.
As Purchasing Team Lead, your work will focus on these responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the daily activities of the purchasing team.
- Ensure system data is effectively maintained, re-order policies are appropriate and MRP demand signals are interpreted to support efficient management of required materials.
- Place purchase orders obtain confirmations and expedite orders to ensure on-time delivery.
- Help to establish, maintain and monitor KPI’s to drive supply chain performance improvement.
- Lead and support supplier negotiations and implement formal agreements as appropriate.
- Effectively manage supplier relationships driving improved supplier performance.
- Manage supplier non-conformance issues, rejections & returns with suppliers, liaising with Quality Assurance and Quality Control as appropriate.
- Develop/optimise internal processes & procedures, provide training and support ensuring we maintain adherence through monitoring and auditing etc.
- Ensure we are effectively managing cost to support budgetary requirements and maximise profitability.
- Maintain effective & collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and support internal/external meetings as required.
- Manage any immediate operational priorities and ensure we take appropriate action to mitigate risk in support of business objectives.
- Support ongoing activities to support development of our Supply Chain.
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:
- Degree qualified in appropriate technical or commercial subject.
- Ideally possess Professional Qualifications in Procurement or working towards this
- Excellent team building skills.
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
- Commercially astute with experience developing and implementing Contracts.
- Confident communicator with the ability to effectively manage internal and external stakeholder relationships.
- Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to work under own initiative.
- Experience driving Supply Chain improvement and cost reduction.
- Experience within an engineering, manufacturing or technical environment would be an advantage.
- Ability to read/interpret engineering drawings and specifications desirable.
- Strong analytical skills and experienced using ERP and MRP systems (ideally SAP or similar)
- Good organisational skills with the ability to work well under pressure.
- Good IT skills and familiarity with MS Office tools
