Registered Nurse, Emergency Department

- Understanding of triage process; ability to make quick and accurate assessments of incoming patients, including both physical and mental health problems through application of Emergency Severity Index (ESI) acuity.
- Consulting other departments and other health care team members, patient and family members as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs and continuity of patient care.
- Demonstrating ability to assist physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.
- Demonstrating appropriate nursing interventions such as identifying and clarifying patient needs, performing procedures, conducting health education, promoting patient advocacy, promoting patient experience, coordinating nursing and other health services, assisting the patient to navigate within the health care system as needed, and evaluate the patient outcomes.
- Employing knowledge of medications and IV fluids in addition to correct administration, based on age of the patient and patient’s clinical condition.
- Demonstrating ability and proficiency with IV placement.
- Understanding of cardiac monitoring and ability to identify dysrhythmias and perform EKG’s as needed.
- Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Wisconsin.
- Current BLS Certification.
- ACLS Certification within 6 months of hire.
- TNCC Certification within one year of hire.
- PALS or ENPC Certification within one year of hire.
- Prior ER Nursing experience preferred.
- Experience in EPIC computer system.
