Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position spends the majority of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities. This includes communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees in addition to planning and directing employees' work. The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. The incumbent will also be required to develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, maintain vacation and work schedules, ensure proper coverage, and complete timesheets. 


This is a highly responsible professional position accountable for the overall operation and management of the Florida HIV/AIDS registry, which includes providing direction, on-site training and technical support of the enhanced HIV/AIDS Reporting System (eHARS). This position requires that the individual possess knowledge of security and confidentiality policies and procedures and the ability to identify operational problems and suggest and provide solutions. This individual should also possess the skills necessary to investigate, assess, and make recommendations for implementing procedures, guidelines, and operations related to electronic HIV/AIDS surveillance reporting activities. 


Manages the Surveillance Section's Data Management and Reporting Unit and supervises all staff under this position's purview. Consults with staff members to identify potential eHARS problems, recommend appropriate action, and perform on-site assistance for resolution, as needed. 


Serves as the lead contact in routine out-of-state morbidity inquiries, including the National Routine Interstate Duplication Review (RIDR) de-duplication initiatives requiring updating or re-assignment. Ensures that all relevant information is correctly assigned in the eHARS reporting system and all documents are appropriately placed in the electronic documents storage system (EDMS) while maintaining documents and databases in accordance with the DOH Information Security, Policies, Procedures, and Protocols. 


Assists the Program Administrator with grant and supplemental awards preparation. Reviews guidelines, procedures and related documents, procedures and policies for setting data entry standards, implementing computerized reporting, and related quality assurance issues. Consults with staff members to develop guidelines, procedures, and policies for setting data entry standards, implementing computerized reporting, and addressing related quality assurance issues. 


Provides direction and operational assistance for managing the enhanced HIV/AIDS Reporting System (eHARS) and is responsible for the security and confidentiality of the statewide HIV/AIDS database. Provides technical assistance for electronic reporting to Surveillance Field staff. 


Provides oversight of operating and managing confidential patient file's manual and electronic storage. 


Performs other related duties as assigned.
