The Opportunity
The Brooks MPA Program Coordinator will play a vital role in supporting the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program by collaborating with faculty leaders, Brooks staff colleagues, and MPA students. This position is integral to the successful execution of program events, student services, and administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Event Planning and Execution: Plan and execute program events throughout the year, with a particular focus on the spring MPA colloquium in coordination with a member of the Brooks faculty.
Student Services Collaboration: Work closely with the Brooks student services team to address the needs of the program and its students, from admissions through graduation.
Communications Support: Serve as a liaison to the Brooks communication team, assisting with content creation and communications for the MPA student cohort.
Administrative Support: Assist program directors with general administrative tasks, including meeting coordination, travel arrangements and reimbursement, and other special requests and projects as assigned.
This is a full-time (39 hours/week) Contract College position that is based in Ithaca, NY. This position follows a 4:1 campus-to-home hybrid work arrangement after a period of orientation and training. This hybrid work arrangement is subject to change at any time. Typical work hours are 9am-5pm Monday through Friday with occasional evenings and weekends to assist with department events and programs.
What You Need
We are looking for a team member who is customer-service oriented, organized, proactive, and timely. Additionally, you will:
Hold an Associate’s Degree and 2 or more years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
Have experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
Have experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
If you possess these experiences and skills this may be the role for you! There are a few other qualifications we would view as incredibly helpful in this role, to include:
Experience working with graduate program faculty and students
Familiarity with public administration, public affairs, government and non-profit organizations
Strong organizational skills and customer service experience.
Work independently as well as in a team environment.
Manage competing deadlines, balance conflicting priorities and frequent interruptions while paying close attention to detail and accuracy.
Background in financial management, reimbursements
Requires reasoning, analytical thought, creativity, and innovation in solving minor problems that occur day to day.
Requires ability to develop effective working relationships with a wide variety of faculty, staff, students, and other units on and off campus
