The Assistant Day Care Teacher assists in the planning, implementation and supervision of developmentally appropriate early childhood programs which meet the individual physical, emotional, social, and intellectual needs of infant/toddler, preschool and/or school age children.

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Assists in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum.
  • Works in a collaborative partnership with families.
  • Available and appropriately responsive to all children.
  • Uses positive discipline encouraging pro-social behavior.
  • Follows the prepared balance daily schedule.
  • Creates an atmosphere that looks, sounds and feels friendly, pleasant and inviting.
  • Keeps classroom/daycare safe, neat and clean.
  • Assists in record keeping.
  • Completes continuing education annually, per state requirements.

Requirements of this position include:

  • State approved early childhood assistant teacher course. Infant/toddler course required.
  • 2 or 4 year childhood degree preferred.
  • Experience with groups of children preferred.
  • AHA Heartsaver First Aid / CPR with AED; Mandated Reporter; Abusive Head Trauma Prevention Training required.
