IMEG is hiring an Electrical Engineering New Graduate in Germantown, MD to work closely with a team of experienced engineers and consultants, providing engineering solutions and advice that support positive client outcomes. This entry-level role offers hands-on design, analysis, and project execution experience, with mentorship, training, and opportunities to grow your expertise from day one.
In this role, you'll assist with the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems in buildings while supporting project budgets and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations. You'll contribute to work across government/municipal and science & technology markets, advancing high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

What You'll Do
- Assist with the design and analysis of electrical systems, creating designs, specifications, and calculations that align with code requirements and IMEG standards
- Support consulting projects as part of a project team, including project planning and scheduling tasks to help meet deadlines and objectives
- Interact with clients to gather project requirements, communicate technical information, and build professional relationships
- Document design decisions and client instructions while monitoring project design progress
- Analyze low to medium complexity engineering tasks and assist in developing practical, efficient solutions with senior engineers and consultants
- Participate in IMEG quality control processes to help ensure designs meet IMEG standards, industry standards, and client requirements
- Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and electrical engineering best practices, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG
- Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work and help identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with electrical systems
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals
What You'll Bring
Required Education
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required
Experience
Required Skills/Abilities
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
- Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildings
- Knowledge of industry standard engineering software and tools, including lighting photometric calculation software such as AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, or other; energy compliance software such as ComCheck; and familiar use of Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges
- Basic knowledge in the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) software
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays
- Engineering in Training (EIT) or equivalent required
Preferred
- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred
- Engineering in Training (EIT) License preferred
