Job Summary 

Join the UT Southwestern team as a Certified Medical Office Assistant (CMOA) working in an ambulatory care setting. As a CMOA, you will be responsible for providing an exceptional patient experience from taking patients vitals to discharging patients. CMOA's at UT Southwestern help to record patient medical histories, take vital signs, assist with minor procedures, administer medications as directed, and ensure proper documentation of patient information. You will play a valuable role in maintaining the clinic's efficiency by performing administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical records, and coordinating referrals. Joining this collaborative ambulatory team will allow you to work closely with a diverse patient population and grow your career as a CMOA.  

 

New CMOAs will complete comprehensive back office clinical orientation and training as follows:

  • New Hire General Orientation
  • Ambulatory Orientation
  • Clinical Observation
  • Epic Registration (Prelude)
  • Epic Scheduling (Cadence)
  • EpicCare
  • Insurance Entry and Verification
  • Epic Referrals Management
  • Epic Cash Drawer, Payment Posting and Check-in/Check-out procedures
  • Practical Training in assigned clinic

Job Duties

·     Takes, records, and reports patient vital signs using medical equipment; performs procedures of low complexity such as visual acuity, development and/or musculoskeletal screening, POC testing, phlebotomy, EKG testing, and other approved clinic specific diagnostic testing.

·     Escorts or transports patients to exam rooms or treatment rooms, or other areas as directed.

·     Documents completion of patient care tasks in medical records, and reinforces education provided by the physician or nurse seekin
