EquipmentShare is searching for a Database Administrator to support our Engineering team. This position can be local to the Columbia, MO area, Kansas City, MO area, or it can be remote.

We’re seeking a Database Administrator to help us design and support persistence solutions in service of our company mission. Our Database Administrator will have the opportunity to help the Engineering team continue to design and build scalable cloud based applications. You’ll serve as the team’s expert when it comes to planning, deploying, tuning and supporting our databases. You’ll use best practices to ensure your team continues to successfully build high-performing, reliable, and scalable data architectures. 

The Database Administrator will work with a highly collaborative, loosely structured team that’s growing fast. Our ideal candidate has experience and is comfortable working in a dynamic environment and assisting with RDBMS design and maintenance.  You are comfortable turning loose requirements into rugged and actionable solutions.

Primary Responsibilities as a Senior Database Administrator 

  • Manage and optimize the performance, reliability, and security of databases running on Amazon Aurora
  • Implement and manage database security measures, including access controls, authentication, and encryption.
  • Monitor database resource utilization, predict growth patterns, and plan for capacity scaling to accommodate increasing workloads. 
  • Collaborate with infrastructure team to optimize database infrastructure and storage provisioning
  • Collaborate with application developers and architects to design efficient database schemas, ensuring data integrity and scalability
  • Respond to database-related incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions. 
  • Troubleshoot performance issues, connectivity problems and database errors to minimize downtime
  • Develop automation scripts and implement tools to streamline database management tasks, deployments and monitoring.

Skills & Qualifications as a Senior Database Administrator

Above all, you’ll get stuff done.  More importantly, you’ll collaborate to do the right things, in the right way to achieve the right outcomes.

  • Significant experience designing solutions using relational databases
  • Experience monitoring, supporting, and tuning PostgreSQL Databases
  • Familiarity with designing data around domains (Domain Driven Design) and familiarity with microservice architectures.
  • Bonus points if you have experience with AWS services and features such as AWS CloudFormation, AWS lambda, AWS CloudWatch, Python, DynamoDB or other NoSQL databases
