ABOUT THE JOB
We are seeking a Senior Manager of Global Strategic Sourcing (GSS) & Supplier Industrialization Engineering (SIE), reporting to the Senior Director of GSS & SIE. In this role you will be responsible for leading a team and their strategic sourcing initiatives, supplier development & industrialization efforts to support the company’s global operations and manufacturing goals in Mechanical and Composites categories. This role requires strong people management experience, deep technical expertise in mechanical and composite manufacturing processes, and the ability to deliver on strategic initiatives. Strategic Sourcing- Develop and execute global sourcing strategies for Mechanical (Fabrication, Fasteners, Packaging, etc.) and Composites (Aircraft/Aerospace and Hardware Composites) to drive cost savings, quality improvements, and supply chain resilience.
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers with strong capabilities in Mechanical and Composites manufacturing.
- Lead supplier negotiations, including pricing, contracts, and long-term agreements.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams to align sourcing strategies with company objectives.
- Lead supplier readiness for New Product Introduction (NPI) and ensure seamless transition to mass production.
- Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) initiatives to optimize performance and cost.
- Conduct supplier audits, technical assessments, and risk evaluations to ensure capacity and compliance.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers to enhance quality, delivery, and efficiency.
- Build and lead a high-performing team of sourcing professionals and supplier industrialization engineers.
- Scale the team to meet the organization’s fast-paced growth needs, ensuring talent development and retention.
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and career development opportunities for team members.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and results-driven performance.
- Track and report key metrics, including cost savings, supplier quality (PPM), on-time delivery, and supplier capacity.
- Develop and implement scalable processes to improve supplier management and operational efficiency.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Mechanical Engineering, Business, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- 7+ years of experience in strategic sourcing or supplier development roles, with at least 3+ years of people management experience.
- Experience managing and scaling teams in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment, leading supplier industrialization efforts for NPI and scaling production.
- Expertise in mechanical and composites categories, including materials, manufacturing processes, and supply chain dynamics.
- Expertise in manufacturing processes such as machining, casting, forging, RTM, autoclave curing, and DFM/DFA principles.
- Ability to relocate, if not already local to be onsite in Costa Mesa, CA
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven ability to lead supplier industrialization efforts for NPI and scaling production.
- Proficiency in supplier qualification processes (FAI, PPAP, APQP) and quality management systems (ISO, AS9100).
- Experience with ERP systems and data analysis tools for cost modeling and performance tracking.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
