  • 10 years of experience in the energy industry, with experience in utility regulatory affairs, rate design, or power procurement.
  • 10 years of experience leading to negotiations or business development.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Business, Economics, Finance, or related disciplines.
  • Knowledge of power origination and business development, energy partnerships, transaction structuring, US power markets (wholesale and retail), clean energy generation and storage technologies, or on-site power infrastructure project management.
  • Knowledge of data center power infrastructure requirements, data center planning processes, and data center capacity delivery channels.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating and synchronizing efforts of the team with other team members and stakeholders.

About the job

Google's infrastructure needs extend beyond server computers. As products and services expand globally, the Energy and Power team secures electric power and procures carbon-free energy (CFE) for Google's data centers.

As an Energy Strategic Negotiator, you combine financial acumen, industry expertise, and advanced systems thinking to architect Google’s utility partnerships. You will analyze emerging grid trends including tariff structures and economic development priorities, evaluate supply options, and structure investment opportunities that reconcile Google’s growth with system-wide constraints. A track record of building programs and a nuanced commercial understanding of electricity markets is essential to successfully executing our portfolio-optimized strategy.

You'll work with project teams on complex transactions and utility relationship management. Your ability to develop recommendations and structure innovative transactions, has the potential to save Google millions of dollars in operating costs, drive innovation in the energy industry and impact every part of the business.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $177,000-$257,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Drive the life-cycle of commercial and regulatory structures, owning the development and approval of innovative infrastructure and contracting strategies
