Department Overview
The Electric Distribution Idle Facilities team ensures the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. We are responsible for the classification of PG&E’s idle distribution electric assets, and we support other lines of business for business planning, operations engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, restoration, and emergency response. Under supervision and with latitude for independent action or decision, our team performs research, discovery, and customer outreach on a professional level to assist with the design of engineering jobs, projects, or parts thereof. We investigate and classify potential idle electric distribution assets from field inspections, preliminary sketches, rough diagrams, specifications, and/or instructions requiring knowledge of engineering practices and shop and field procedures.
Position Summary
This position is represented by Engineers and Scientists of California (ESC) subject to collective bargaining.
This position will be directly responsible for classifying and investigating distribution electric assets for both overhead and underground distribution facilities. The candidate will provide engineering guidance and support within the electric distribution estimating teams and other lines of business and will be responsible for managing an investigation portfolio, following up with customers (internal and external), and obtaining all necessary documentation related to the classification analysis. Under supervision, performs technical work in connection with the design, construction, maintenance, or operation of the Company's facilities or functions related thereto as an assistant to a group of engineers.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.
PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreement, and internal equity.
Under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement, the hourly rate range for this position is $38.19 to $54.73, subject to collectively bargained wage increases.
Job Responsibilities
- Chart making
- Preparing graphs, drawings, sketches, and other documentation
- Obtaining, extracting, and analyzing engineering and SAP data
- Preparing and reviewing computer input and output
- Assisting in administrative work associated with the technical office activities and contracts.
- Data and file managing in SharePoint, Share drives, SAP, etc.
- Maintaining project files and providing project documentation and status as requested
- Supporting the issuance of engineering/design service/consulting contracts
- Posting good receipts along with tracking and record keeping
- QA/QC drawing format and extract various drawing attributes for file uploads.
- Prepare, file, audit, Documentum documents and record drawings.
- Coordinating with engineers, sourcing, project management, portfolio, accounting, contractors, and various other PG&E stakeholders.
- Performs technical work, under supervision, in connection with the design, construction, maintenance, or operation of the Company's plant or functions related thereto as an assistant to an engineer or group of engineers.

- Identify electric facilities that are mis-mapped, idle, privately or customer owned vs PG&E owned.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Associate's degree in engineering or its equivalent in technical education and experience
Desired:
- 3 years of clerical or administrative support experience
- Advanced and demonstrated proficiency with business software products (Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, Adobe Acrobat, Documentum, etc.)
- Ability to understand written technical standards and to communicate readily with others, both orally and in writing
