We are looking to hire a Oncology RN for our <b>MercyOne Richard Deming Cancer Center Des Moines Hematology Oncology</b></p><p></p><p>As a Oncology RN at MercyOne, you will apply professional nursing care and skills in outpatient setting.  The nurse provides patient care activities to inpatients and outpatients of diverse ages as assigned- young adults to geriatrics. Must be able to accommodate working at both the main campus office and West Lakes office as needed and on a rotating basis</p><p></p><p><b>Schedule:</b></p><ul><li>Full time 40 hours a week</li><li>M-F 8a-4:30p</li><li>No Weekends no Holidays</li></ul><p></p><p></p><p><b>General Requirements:</b></p><ul><li>Applies professional nursing skills in the provision of the treatment of ill and injured patients utilizing the four aspects of the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.</li><li>Demonstrates ability to recognize and assess emergency needs of patients and initiate therapeutic procedures as needed within their scope of practice.</li><li>Acts to facilitate interdisciplinary communication.  Utilizes other members of the health care team in assessing the patient and analyzes patient data.  Assesses learning needs of the patient and significant others.  Gives accurate and complete information to patient and family.</li><li>Coordination of care may include but not limited to: <span>             </span></li><li>Dieticians</li><li>Endoscopy</li><li>Dental offices for dental extractions prior to therapy</li><li>Home Care</li><li>Hospice</li><li>Palliative Care</li><li>Pain Center</li><li>Oncology Nurse Navigators</li><li>VA and other health care centers</li><li>American Cancer Society: travel services, accommodations, financial support, assist devices, etc.</li><li>Medical/Surgical Oncology physicians</li><li>Inpatient nursing units</li><li>Counseling services – inpatient and outpatient</li><li>Evaluates patient and family understanding of treatment plan and/or instructions</li><li>Radiation treatment planning
