Summary
Performs a variety of skilled tasks associated with grounds tradeEssential Duties
- Utilizes blueprints, schematics, drawings, layouts, or other specifications to complete various tasks which may include athletic field maintenance, excavation of utilities for repair or replacement, layout of sports fields
- Utilizes hand tools, testing and diagnostic equipment, simple power tools and large equipment such as backhoe, tractors and skid loader as appropriate for the trade to complete assigned tasks
- Cleans worksites including hauling debris and trash, cleaning tools and equipment, and ensuring tools, materials and equipment are stored properly
- Demonstrates knowledge of tools and safety practices commonly used in the grounds trade
- Demonstrates knowledge of irrigation controls and programming
- Determines proper methods, equipment, and materials to facilitate cost effective repairs
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator
Required Education
High School Diploma or GED equivalentCertification/Licensure
Valid Georgia Driver License requiredEligible to acquire a CDLMust be insurable by Fulton County School insurance carriersExperience Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of experience requiredKnowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Familiar with irrigation systems and set-up of the controls
- Working knowledge of materials, methods, tools, and equipment of the grounds trade
- Knowledge in use of hand and power tools and large equipment attachments related to the trade
- Skilled in the operation of tractors, backhoe and skid loader
- Must be able to understand and follow directions both written and verbal
- Must be able to work variable shifts
Working Conditions
- Regular exposure to weather including heat, cold, dampness, and/or humidity
- Must be able to work from tall ladders, lifts, scaffolding and/or bucket truck
Physical Demands
- Typically requires climbing ladders; pushing and/or pulling
- Must have sufficient strength and manual dexterity to operate power equipment
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and carry for short distances
- Must be able to stand, crouch, and climb to use ladders and perform various types of manual labor
