This position will be responsible for the administrative management, staff development and technical claim results the Excess Casualty Segmentation unit. The individual will be responsible for overseeing a team of Segmentation Specialists tasked with reviewing Major Accounts excess and umbrella files, identifying severity, and where applicable, escalating to the Excess Complex unit for handling. The unit addresses a variety of claims involving commercial bodily injury, property damage, product liability, and personal injury claims on Major Accounts excess policies. The position will also be responsible for developing staff, succession planning and executing strategies to achieve goals and objectives. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the efficient, consistent delivery of service to our customers and business partners that meets or exceeds Chubb's standards and complies with all applicable statutes/regulations within the assigned jurisdiction(s).
This is a hybrid opportunity, 3 days in the Jersey City office and 2 days remotely.
Responsibilities
The desired candidate is service-oriented and possesses excellent leadership, organizational, training and staff development skills. The candidate must be able to make timely and appropriate decisions. Experience overseeing complex, high exposure, bodily injury and property damage claims, ensuring consistent handling across all Chubb entities is a strong plus. This position will:
- Ensure high level of technical claim handling from professional claims staff.
- Interact with business management and direct leadership responsible for Major Accounts underwriting to communicate claim trends which impact the business.
- Ensure the Excess Segmentation team’s operational activities meet and integrate with organizational requirements for quality management, and where applicable, internal and external audits, compliance and privacy policies and procedures.
- Guide staff with the triaging and segmentation of Excess Casualty claims, ensuring appropriate internal stakeholder coordination and execution.
- Provide outstanding customer service and work well with the insured, broker and TPA (when applicable) in the segmentation of claims.
- Identify potential exposure to the Chubb excess policies.
- Participate in regular and meaningful discussions with internal and external business partners.
- Seven or more years of experience as a claim professional with a high degree of competence in the handling of complex Casualty claims involving catastrophic injuries.
- Strong training and staff development skills.
- Experience with primary and excess bodily injury and property damage claims
- Understanding of contractual indemnification issues and additional insured provisions.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with claimants, customers, insureds, brokers, and attorneys in a positive manner concerning losses.
- Ability to motivate team members while working independently within authority.
- Experience in leadership and management roles a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of adjustment processes, issues, and trends in multiple lines of business.
- Demonstrated ability in dealing with coverage matters.
- Working knowledge of industry best practices and procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal communications skills and demonstrated an ability to deal with staff, customers, and business partners in a professional manner.
- Ability to make prompt, appropriate decisions based upon complex loss scenarios.
The pay range for the role is $92,500 to $158,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. Chubb offers a comprehensive benefits package, more details on which can be found on our careers website.
