A Day in the Life

In this exciting role as Facilities Technician IV at our Mystic, CT site, you will be primarily responsible for equipment repair for chemical processing. This is a first shift position, Monday – Friday, with an “on-call” requirement every other weekend. Respirator physical and fitting required.

As a Senior Facilities Technician, you will: 

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems in a cleanroom and production facility. 
  • Working within RODI Systems. 
  • Troubleshoot complex systems and collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) teams. 
  • Respond to urgent building system alarms and prioritize work orders based on safety, production, and compliance needs. 
  • Maintain and document equipment records using a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System). 
  • Ensure all tasks comply with OSHA, Medtronic EHS standards, FDA regulations, and cGMP guidelines. 
  • Support facilities projects including equipment upgrades, utility installs, and space reconfigurations. 
  • Mentor and guide junior technicians as needed. 
  • Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace. 
  • CDL Class B with tank endorsement preferred.

First shift (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, M-F) with flexibility to cover other shifts (weekends) as needed. 

Must Have – Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Requires minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
    Requires high school diploma or equivalent (United States), vocational or technical education or certification (all other countries).

Nice to Have - Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with commercial or industrial HVAC, plumbing, mechanical systems, or electrical systems. 
  • NFPA – Building Life Safety Code Knowledge and Application.
  • Building Fire System Knowledge
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 40 Certification
  • Knowledge and experience working with Potable and Process Water Systems. 
  • PLC Programming Logic Controller Knowledge – Controls Knowledge 
  • Commercial Drivers License - CDL – B w/ Tank Endorsement
  • Ability to read blueprints, technical schematics, and operating manuals. 
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. 
  • Ability to work flexible hours including on-call rotations and occasional weekends. 
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (semiconductor, medical device, pharmaceutical, aerospace, etc.). 
  • Working knowledge of building automation systems (e.g., Siemens, Honeywell). 
  • Familiarity with cleanroom protocols or ISO-classified environments. 
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification or equivalent. 
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
