This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will lead the team ensuring the Software Quality for various spaceflight systems. You will report to the Director of Program and Software Quality, and led the team assuring the successful execution of software development plans that support compliance with internal processes and customer requirements; approving software configurations for safety critical functions; and collaborating on process improvement initiatives for various spaceflight systems. Additionally, you will partner with Blue Origin's Enterprise Technology organization to lead the prioritization and requirements gathering for business software and tools in the Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance Organization.

You must have a passion for leadership and solving complex problems by providing operable solutions; act with minimal direction and on your own initiative; and be adaptable as you will work on a variety of applications and systems.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead, coach and mentor a team of Software Quality Engineers responsible for the software quality in a variety of complex spaceflight programs in different stages of development
  • Assure that the development life cycle and the activities that occur in each phase are compliant with the approved plans, customer requirements, and Quality System requirements
  • Monitor and audit all aspects of software development including planning, design and development, configuration management, verification and validation, and transition to production
  • Provide software supplier oversight
  • Generate metrics and trends for managing risk and communicating software readiness for safety critical operations Participate in software engineering design reviews and make recommendations to enhance the quality of new software designs 
  • Monitor and audit complex electronic hardware development activities

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience in auditing and assuring software development assurance process compliance
  • 5+ years industry experience in software engineering field or software quality engineer role
  • 5+ years experience identifying software process-related problems, performing root cause analysis and managing correctiveactions
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion 
  • Familiarity with Software quality assurance standards (RTCA/DO-178C, RTCA/DO-254, AS9115, CMMI)
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years leadership experience leading Software Quality teams
  • Relevant experience transitioning a product from development, through production to operations
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science discipline
  • Experience with Aerospace, space launch, or military or commercial aviation
  • American Society of Software Quality, Certified Quality Engineer certification


 

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $153,648.00-$215,106.15
