Job Description

Procore is looking for a VP of Engineering, Preconstruction to lead an expansion that is both strategic and unlocks future business models for Procore. Construction is undergoing a transformation where owners are demanding a more iterative and collaborative design-build process that pairs “what it looks like” (Design) and what it costs (constructability). Formerly disconnected teams and technologies have kept the construction industry from realizing the efficiency and trust that technology can empower. This shift has happened faster in Europe and APAC due to compliance and government standardization. As construction shifts in this direction, the importance of Preconstruction tools increases and the ability to collaborate across companies in these tools does as well. The primary tools that are driving this change include Document Management, Estimating, Bidding, Prequalification, BIM, and Workforce Management.

As VP of Engineering, you’ll lead multiple divisions to architect and implement the right combination of technologies, tools, and methods to achieve favorable financial returns while meeting strategic objectives. In this new position, working as a key part of the Engineering senior leadership team, you’ll have the exciting opportunity to help us uplevel and transform our people, processes, and technologies to build Procore as a globe-spanning exemplar of engineering excellence while solving for the future of Preconstruction.

This position will report to our Head of Engineering Core Products and Platform and has the opportunity to work remotely from the Bay Area or at our Carpinteria, CA, New York, NY or Austin, TX offices. We’re looking for someone to join our team immediately.

What you’ll do:

• Work in tandem with Product and Design teams to review various levers that accelerate our product and technology strategies and deliver scalable, maintainable, and secure solutions to our customers
• Collaborate with senior leaders across Procore to define and execute a compelling vision for Preconstruction, Documents, and related areas. Work with these leaders to make pragmatic trade-offs on staffing and prioritizing initiatives
• Partner with senior engineering and technical leaders on org-wide initiatives that are both technical and cultural in nature
• Own, drive, and communicate the Preconstruction Engineering team’s delivery of modern solutions; develop and implement a multi-year technical strategy to scale the platform and experiences in your portfolio
• Proactively develop the technology of platform components in your domain to stay one step ahead of product teams while aligning with multi-year engineering roadmaps to enable global scale
• Improve and expand the team by attracting, developing, and retaining high-performing talent who excel within a diverse and inclusive environment
• Promote an environment that fosters high-quality, metrics-driven experimentation and leads to impactful improvements

What we're looking for: 

• BS degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience is required
• 15+ years of experience leading Engineering organizations both domestically and internationally, along with managing large-scale systems
• Executive-level experience designing, building, and leading large-scale (150 person+) Engineering organizations
• Demonstrable ability to communicate and align with stakeholders and executives across the organization, including the Board of Directors, C-level Executives, Business VPs, Functional heads, Directors/VPs, Technology, Product, and Design leaders, etc.
• Demonstrated history of building strong cross-functional relationships and influence, inspiring and leading teams throughout the organization
• Organizational savvy to navigate and manage ambiguous and complex scenarios
• Ability to represent and promote complex business and technical architectural concepts both internally and externally
• Experience operating at both Startup and Enterprise scales, ideally transitioning between them while utilizing engineering excellence metrics
• Experience in bringing an organization through a period of change management
• A strategic mindset to drive vision and purpose, see ahead to future possibilities, and can translate them into breakthrough strategies
• Passionate about Procore and the problems we are solving for the construction industry 

Additional Information

Base Pay Range $250,800-$344,850. Eligible for Bonus Incentive Compensation. Eligible for Equity Compensation. Procore is committed to offering competitive, fair, and commensurate compensation, and has provided an estimated pay range for this role.
