The DPFR Office of Professional and Occupational Regulation, Plumbers Examining Board needs a Senior Plumbing Inspector to protect the public health, safety and welfare. The Senior Inspector works independently throughout the state to:

• Educate and assist Local Plumbing Inspectors
• Help educate Plumbers on updated codes
• Respond to complaints against plumbers
• Assist the general public with plumbing related issues
• Educate plumbers on current and changing codes, including preparing and presenting educational programs
• Educate Local Plumbing Inspectors on plumbing codes so they can enforce those codes throughout their communities.
• Assisting LPIs with complaints or unusual inspections and advising on same.
• Develops standard operating procedures for the plumbing inspectors in order to ensure proper job performance.
• Investigates complaints and alleged violations and testifies as an expert witness at court hearings in order to determine validity and provide information.
• Help develop and maintain State licensing examinations

Skills or knowledge required: 

• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to write clearly and effectively.
• Ability to investigate complaints and take appropriate action.
• Ability to explain violations and provide instruction in proper applications and procedures
• Ability and willingness to prepare and provide presentations to large groups as well as small ones

Minimum qualifications:

Four (4) years experience as a Licensed Master Plumber.

LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class).

Master Plumbers license and Maine Drivers license.
