About the role

This role plays a critical role in identifying, qualifying, and managing a high-performing supplier base, fostering strong partnerships to drive competitive advantage and operational efficiency. The Sourcing Manager partners closely with operations and other business units to implement the best practices, consolidate spend and drive sustained value. Success in this position requires both strategic thinking and tactical execution to deliver results that balance technical, commercial, and operational priorities.

  • Conduct detailed analysis of Nabors’ global category spend, including relevant subcategories, equipment installed base, forecasted demand, and business requirements to identify opportunities for volume consolidation, supplier rationalization, and economies of scale.
  • Lead the development, implementation and communication of strategic sourcing services strategies for Nabors.
  • Responsible for all elements of category management for Nabors including strategic understanding of the supply market place, pricing and term negotiations, preparation and analysis of global/regional bid proposals/packages, supplier selection, negotiation and communication with users across business units.
  • Leverage sourcing expertise to rationalize and categorize catalog items, leading competitive bidding, negotiation, and award processes that result in fixed-price agreements with best-in-class vendors. These agreements consolidate volume to control pricing, mitigate cost fluctuations, and add value by reducing repetitive purchasing activities and enabling purchase order automation to streamline the procurement process.
  • Build a high-performance team; hire and retain the right talent in the right roles; set goals, delegates work and holds direct reports accountable.
  • Develops and empowers direct reports to make decisions and action taken.  Demonstrates company’s values, maintains a positive open demeanor, encourages different points of view, moves team forward through change, provides timely information, communicates context for business decisions, recognizes accomplishments and fosters teamwork and collaboration.
  • Provides leadership; continually identifies and implements new opportunities for cost savings, cost avoidance and proactively tracks progress towards these objectives. 
  • Prepares and presents business cases, return on investment models, change management programs to stakeholders and senior management.  Implements and measures cost savings, reduction, and avoidance programs and strategies.  Continually refines these programs to deliver optimal results for the company.
  • Makes decisions that require consistent recognition of a wide range of complex, specialized issues, problems and opportunities across the Company’s negotiation and purchasing of capital and services expenses.
  • Sets the strategy and leads the development, implementation, and management of corporate policies, processes, compliance programs, procurement systems and metrics reporting.
  • Implement value driven procurement programs that achieve internal savings targets and deliver enterprise wide process improvement.  Continually addresses and resolves organizational barriers with agile decision making and outstanding communication of risk versus reward.  Provides thought leadership and the ability to execute on global and regional programs
  • Use expert knowledge of the creation and management of leveraged agreements, the management of key supplier and customer relationships, and the effective execution of category planning and management processes in the successful implementation, execution and compliance to global procurement and category/spend category strategies, contracts, processes and policies.
  • Interfaces with global strategic suppliers to solve problems involving pricing, supplier performance, or any other matters that may arise.
  • Manages contracting, tactical and transactional activities for Nabors categories across multiple countries in accordance with approved processes and policies.
  • Qualify and report implementation gap closure and value of recommended sourcing strategies.
  • Analyze, support and actively participate in the development and implementation of global sourcing strategies that are aligned with global and regional strategies.
  • Responsible for delivering and tracking quantifiable financial benefits and value creation proportionate to the global spend.
  • Develops and maintains global and regional contracts that are commercially sound and provide optimum protection of company assets.
  • Facilitates the transfer of best practices and continuous improvement processes and practices and the generation of new savings ideas for the global spend.
