Your Day-to-Day:

The Radiation Engineering & Analysis group is looking to hire a Principal Engineer with a focus on reactor fluence and dosimetry analysis.  Ideal candidates are technical leaders looking for an opportunity to work in small teams on complex nuclear engineering problems, with a focus on radiation transport and radiation source terms.

 

REA has supported the design and analysis of PWRs since the early days of the commercial nuclear power industry.  Its scope has expanded from the Westinghouse fleet to include the Combustion Engineering PWR fleet, the BWR fleet, and several advanced reactor designs such as the Westinghouse AP1000® plant, AP300TM small modular reactor, and eVinciTM microreactor.  Our market is global with customers in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, covering the operating fleet, decommissioning, and new build.  To meet this demand, our staff is also global with engineers in the U.S., Spain, Germany, and India.

 

The primary responsibilities for this role include:

  • Technical leader for fluence/dosimetry analyses, including license renewal and 24-month fuel cycle transitions,
  • Mentor/teach/coach less experienced engineers,
  • Determine scope and schedule and provide cost inputs for offers, and
  • Lead new product and service offerings.

 

Occasional travel to industry meetings and/or to customer sites for short field work assignments may be required.  The role could be filled from any of Westinghouse’s global engineering hubs, though Cranberry Township, PA is the preferred locations to align with REA’s current demographics.  Working time will be split between home and office locations.

 

Who You Are:
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:

  • BS in Engineering required.  With a preference for Nuclear Engineering or similar.
  • 10+ years applicable experience.
  • Proven engineering leadership as a Technical Leader including:
    • Management of teams in challenging situations
    • Frequent interactions with customers
    • Ability to navigate Westinghouse internal structure and processes.
  • High-level skills qualification in deterministic neutron transport and dosimetry analysis
  • Strong technical skills combined with an ability to multi-task and prioritize work tasks.
  • Extensive engineering knowledge

 

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience with Linux, programming, and computational simulation.
  • Experience with relevant computer codes (RAPTOR, DOORS, SCALE, etc.)
  • Proficiency in multiple languages beyond English
