Harm Reduction Internship

Location: The Centers, Cleveland, Ohio
Department: Public Health/Community Outreach
Position Type: Internship (Part time and unpaid)
Duration: Flexible Scheduling (10–15 hours/week)
We are seeking a passionate, motivated college student interested in public health, social justice, or community advocacy to join our team as a Harm Reduction Intern. This internship offers hands-on experience in harm reduction practices, community engagement, outreach, and program development. Interns will support our outreach efforts, help distribute harm reduction materials, and assist with education and advocacy initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with the preparation and distribution of harm reduction supplies (e.g., naloxone, safer use kits, safer sex kits)
• Participate in community outreach events and street-based engagement
• Support data collection, entry, and reporting for harm reduction services
• Contribute to educational and social media campaigns
• Help develop and update resource guides for clients and community partners
• Attend weekly team meetings and occasional training sessions
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold trauma-informed, nonjudgmental approaches in all client interactions
Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program (Public Health, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or related field preferred)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to social justice, public health, and harm reduction principles
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to engage with diverse communities, including individuals who use drugs, are unhoused, or are involved in the sex trade
• Fluent bilingual talent is a plus
