Dairy Genetics Strategy Specialist
Genus PLCAbout the role
Role Overview
We are looking for some to join our team as the UK Dairy Genetics Strategy Specialist
You will play a critical strategic role in driving profitable growth across the UK dairy and beef portfolios, with a primary focus on dairy genetics. This role operates at the intersection of sales enablement, pricing optimisation, demand strategy, market segmentation, and subject matter expertise, ensuring that the UK commercial strategy is executed effectively and consistently.
You'll take full ownership of UK product readiness and commercial effectiveness, ensuring bulls are correctly registered, priced, tiered, segmented, available, and positioned to meet defined UK market and customer segment needs. As the UK Dairy Genetics Subject Matter Expert (SME), this individual maintains deep technical and commercial knowledge of the dairy portfolio, proof runs, breeding objectives, genetic indices, and customer usage patterns.
In addition to strategic and enablement responsibilities, you will also have direct selling accountability within a defined number of allocated UK prospect herds, using SME credibility to demonstrate value, test propositions, and support broader sales strategy. Insight gained from these customer interactions is actively fed back into pricing, segmentation, and demand decisions.
You will also lead our UK sales training and capability development, ensuring sales teams understand not only what to sell, but why, to whom, and at what value.
You Will
- Sales Enablement: Act as the primary UK commercial contact, translating strategy, pricing, and segmentation into actionable guidance, and providing sales teams with accurate, timely product and portfolio information.
- Dairy Genetics SME: Serve as the UK Subject Matter Expert on dairy genetics, supporting bull selection, mating strategy, and portfolio positioning, while ensuring technical accuracy across all internal and external communications.
- Proof Run & Product Readiness: Lead proof run coordination, catalogue preparation, and cross-functional alignment, ensuring bulls are registered, priced, tiered, and ready for market.
- Pricing & Segmentation: Optimise pricing, analyse performance by segment, and refine portfolio positioning to maximise margin, adoption, and strategic impact.
- Demand Strategy & Allocation: Support forecasting, prioritisation, and allocation decisions for UK beef and dairy portfolios, linking insights to pricing and segmentation.
- Targeted Selling: Manage direct selling in allocated UK prospect herds, applying SME knowledge and strategy to drive adoption and gather actionable market insight.
- Training & Capability Development: Lead UK dairy-focused training, coaching, and knowledge transfer to elevate commercial and genetics capability across sales teams.
- Third-Party Management: Coordinate operational relationships with AI Total, Solnua, Synetics, and Viking to ensure alignment with UK strategy and availability.
- Knowledge Exchange & Market Insight: Collate, analyse, and disseminate insights from the field and prospect herds to inform strategy, pricing, and portfolio decisions
