Summary
This position is responsible for determining optimum Careertech program needs for offenders committed to a correctional institution; position also provides advice and networks with relevant partners concerning pre and post release support for offenders to support their re-entry into the community.  

Education and Experience 

Required:

  •  High School Diploma or equivalency.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of vocational guidance and social adjustment principles, available institutional industrial positions and the future market for those skills, interviewing and counseling techniques.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, effective communication and to determine which segment of CareerTech will best suit the offender’s needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Uses interview techniques and assessment instruments to determine the offender’s programmatic needs; prepares case history reports and recommends program assignments.
  • Advises offenders on employment resources, vocational skills, educational and training needs and institutional adjustment.
  • Delivers programs to offenders which are designed to assist in a successful CareerTech program enrollment.
  • Assists with or prepares reports such as number assessed, number moved, number enrolled in CareerTech program.
  • Develop, monitor and amend offender transition plans in line with re-entry programs and services.
  • Utilizes collaborative network with relevant partners to provide support, pre and post release services for offenders which involve skills centers staff and community resources and social service agencies.

$39,628.81 - $44,673.13

Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of employees; and communicate ideas and concepts clearly to other employees.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate simple mathematical equations as applicable, for example: add, subtract, multiply and divide.

Reasoning Skills
Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions and solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Licenses, Certificates, Registrations
Requires valid driver’s license.

Physical Demands
Ability to lift 25 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Work Environment
Position based at Lexington Assessment and Reception Center. Lexington, OK. When job functions are performed within a correctional environment, entry and exit from the workplace will be controlled by correctional facility.
