About the role

Hannover Life Reassurance Company of America (Hannover Re) is currently seeking talented candidates for a full-time Sr Actuary position, within the CSS – Financial Reporting & Valuation department. This position is responsible for quarterly reporting, economic capital model reporting, and other annual reporting requirements for the FRV – Life Traditional team. They will run and maintain the actuarial models used for LTC Hybrid reporting as well as economic capital seed runs. This role actively supports external audit deliverables as well as quarterly reporting deliverables for the Corporate Actuarial team. The position collaborates with other FRV – Life Traditional personnel and other teams to ensure consistency, accuracy, and efficiency across portfolios. This is a non-rotating role for an ASA or FSA.

 

Essential Functions:

 

(50%) Economic Capital Modelling

  • Works with internal departments to produce semi-annual economic capital seed run results. Runs RiskAgility models, processes runs in Synapse, and summarizes and analyses results. Looks for ways to improve processes. Proactively works to build strong relationships with other departments that are involved in the process. Collaborates with the Portfolio Actuaries on the FRV – Life Traditional team to provide any required variance explanations on results.

 

(40%) Financial Reporting for LTC Hybrid business

  • Technical lead in overseeing and reviewing the quarterly valuation and reporting processes related to the LTC Hybrid block of Life Solutions Traditional business. Development of quarterly forecasts, and close monitoring of any emerqinq trends or earninqs variances. Analysis, support, and reporting of Solvency II results for LTC Hybrid business. Supports the annual audit requirements for the FRV – Life Traditional team for the LTC Hybrid business, including but not limited to single cell demonstrations.

 

(10%) Ad Hoc projects

  • Assists with ad-hoc projects in the department or company.

Essential knowledge, skills, and abilities:

 

Education/Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, or related field
  • 3-5+ years of related actuarial experience
  • Experience in IFRS, statutory, and Solvency II valuation and financial reporting of life, health and/or annuity products

 

Computer Skills:

  • Experience with actuarial valuation and projection software, preferably Risk Agility
  • Extensive spreadsheet and database skills

 

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

 

Certificates/Licenses:

  • Associate (ASA considered with 5+ years experience) or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries
  • Member of the American Academy of Actuaries


Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Prior experience in life, health and annuity reinsurance
  • Prior experience working with LTC Hybrid products
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with internal and external constituents
  • Project management skills

 

Travel:

  • 5% travel (domestic, overnight) - Light travel to other offices may be requested


Total Compensation Range (Inclusive of Base + Bonus) :

  • $107,600 - $191,900
