Job Purpose

 

To ensure the highest levels of Safety, Quality, and Compliance during restoration operations as well as providing leadership, development, and guidance to employees. This position reports to the Upstate New York Director of Contractor Oversight and Restoration NY and is responsible for delivering restoration projects in both the Central and Eastern territories. Due to the varied nature of the Restoration Portfolio, projects include the restoration of the planned gas main replacement project, electric storm repairs, and customer complaints. The restoration is a combination of landscaping, concrete repairs sidewalk/driveway, curbing replacement, and paving.

The focus of the individual will be on managing a team of contractor oversight professionals dedicated to the execution of the restoration activities. This individual will work in a cross-functional team to help deliver an average of 15,000 to 16,000 projects per year. This cross-functional team would include members from the different Construction Teams, Customer Complaints, Community and Customer Teams, and storm repair crews. The main goal being customer satisfaction, from major municipalities to individual homeowners with the completion of the project to be as good or better condition than original. During construction, the manager is accountable for ensuring the Restoration Supervisors have everything they need to be successful in their oversight role. Other key stakeholders include Mains and Services Contractor Oversight, Gas Field Operations, Overhead Electric Field Safety, and QA.

Key Accountabilities

 

Accountable for delivering Safety, Quality, and Compliance on all Restoration Projects

· Accountable for Contractor Field Oversight of all Restoration activities

· Accountable for helping identify and deliver Capital Efficiencies during the Restoration Process

· Accountable for Construction, planning, and engaging Contractor/In-house Resources for project delivery

· Accountable for the Constructability and Risk Review for the Restoration Projects

· Accountable for ensuring Supervisors and Contractors are properly trained & qualified as well as recruiting, developing, and empowering a highly motivated and capable team

 

Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required

 

Strong leadership skills in Safety & Risk management, developing and coaching talent, communication, influencing, decision-making, contractor management, budget management, and stakeholder management

· Ability to Lead High Performing and Cross-Functional Teams through Ambiguity and Change

Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in an engineering or construction discipline, and/or 5 years of significant equivalent experience in the gas construction management environment with 3 to 5 years in utility management.

· Experience in restoration-type construction and landscaping with a focus on construction methods, cost control, safety, environment, quality and service, and performance. Demonstrated knowledge and application of Safety and Environmental rules.

· Ability to assess potential conflicts by reviewing the project scope and providing solutions to the project team.

· Must be able to work in a cross functional role to develop a restoration plan with inputs from the various operations groups, including but not limited to, Customer and Community Team, Mains and Services Contractor Oversight Teams, Gas Field Operations Teams, Electric Overhead Team,

· Analytical Thinking: Sees relationships between work plans, safety issues, installation methods, and spend vs. efficiency reports identifying several likely causes or consequences of a situation.
