The Director, Field Medical Excellence will drive the strategic and operational excellence of BioNTech’s MSL teams globally, ensuring they are optimally equipped to deliver high-impact scientific exchange with healthcare professionals (HCPs). This role will focus on field medical operations, oncology launch readiness, training, insights management, and Veeva CRM optimization to strengthen BioNTech’s engagement in the oncology community.
The ideal candidate brings deep oncology expertise, a track record in MSL excellence, and fluency in Veeva CRM and Insights, ensuring a data-driven approach to MSL strategy and execution.
Key Responsibilities
MSL Field Medical Excellence & Oncology Launch Readiness
• Lead the development and execution of MSL strategic frameworks to optimize scientific engagement and ensure alignment with BioNTech’s oncology pipeline priorities.
• Oversee oncology launch readiness, ensuring MSLs are fully prepared with disease state knowledge, clinical data, and engagement strategies tailored to each market.
• Establish field medical KPIs and performance metrics to measure scientific impact, engagement quality, and insights contribution.
• Drive continuous improvement in MSL effectiveness, training, and engagement strategies, ensuring best-in-class scientific exchange.
• Support the development and optimization of the BioNTech strategy for oncology scientific/medical congresses.
• Design and implement comprehensive training programs for MSLs to maintain scientific excellence and stay ahead of emerging oncology trends.
Operational Leadership & Process Optimization
• Enhance MSL operational efficiencies through streamlined workflows, engagement tracking, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for field medical activities, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
• Partner with BioNTech’s Digital & Data Science teams to integrate AI-driven analytics, real-time insights tracking, and predictive modeling into field medical operations.
• Lead global MSL training programs, fostering scientific excellence and ensuring MSLs stay ahead of emerging oncology trends.
Veeva CRM & Insights Leadership
• Act as BioNTech’s subject matter expert (SME) for Veeva CRM and Insights, optimizing its use for medical engagement tracking, insights collection, and data-driven decision-making.
• Oversee the development of customized dashboards and analytics tools to enhance field medical reporting, impact measurement, and strategic planning.
• Implement best practices for medical insights gathering, synthesis, and utilization, ensuring insights from MSL teams drive key decisions in Medical Affairs, R&D, and Commercial Strategy.
Cross-functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
• Partner with Global Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Medical Communications, Market Access, and Commercial teams to align field medical strategy with broader organizational objectives.
• Work closely with Compliance, Legal, and Regulatory Affairs to ensure adherence to industry standards and company policies.
• Lead MSL field engagement strategy discussions, ensuring alignment with BioNTech’s mission to advance oncology innovation.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
• Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent) in a scientific or medical discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in Medical Affairs, with a strong background in oncology and immunotherapy.
• Demonstrated leadership in MSL excellence, field medical operations, or medical insights management.
