Clinical Coach (Remote) Part-Time

About the role

BAYADA Home Health Care has launched a year long clinical residency program for newly credentialed LPNs and RNs with less than a year of professional experience. Residents will participate in the yearlong new grad program, contextualize their academic nursing preparation to the home care setting, and transition to the practice of caring for adult and pediatric clients in their homes. The Clinical Coach will play a critical role in supporting early-career nurses with their successful transition from an academic setting to independent, safe, confident work in home care. This is a part-time remote position. Seeking residents of PA, NJ and NC preferred.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate and communicate the core values of BAYADA and The BAYADA Way.
  • Develop working knowledge of BAYADA’s mission, services, people, organization, policies and procedures.
  • Support the development of residents’ clinical competence and confidence.
    • Track, monitor, and systematize residents’ emerging clinical skill through the yearlong new grad program, intervene with and support residents when their clinical performance is off-track, and celebrate residents when their clinical performance is on-track
  • Meet individually and regularly (e.g., weekly) with residents to develop the insight and the relational trust needed to shape their clinical practice
    • Provide coaching feedback to residents in a manner that is direct and specific while also constructive and respectful
    • Design and run community-building experiences to foster residents’ engagement, belonging, and retention in the new grad program
    • Liaise with office-based Client Services Managers and Clinical Managers to:
  • Ensure placement of residents to developmentally appropriate (i.e., low complexity) and topically appropriate client cases;
    • Recruit and retain an engaging, well-aligned cadre of preceptors who will support residents; and iii. Identify well-matched preceptors for residents
    • Support the program’s Clinical Instructor with the delivery and assessment of curriculum components to build residents’ critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and clinical judgment
    • Support the program’s Clinical Instructor and office-based Clinical Managers with the delivery and assessment of residents’ clinical onboarding
  • Design and provide residents with low-risk clinical practice opportunities.
    • Prepare simulation lab components of the curriculum, working in conjunction with the program’s Clinical Instructor and SNU’s Director of Education, Training, and Simulation
    • Train and norm office-based Clinical Educators and Clinical Managers on simulation lab components of the curriculum, modeling expected practices and best practices
    • Where possible, run and assess simulation lab components of the curriculum in-person with residents
  • Ensure readiness of residents at key program milestones.
    • Identify when residents are ready for competency exams, or when additional support and/or practice are necessary
    • Coordinate with office-based Clinical Managers on residents’ competency exams before residents’ independent work in client homes
  • Demonstrate the awareness, humility, and cultural competence to engage and prepare residents effectively across lines of difference. This includes but is not limited to ethnocracies and socioeconomic differences between the Clinical Coach, residents, and clients.
  • Demonstrate solid performance or exceed performance standards in key job dimensions/attributes as defined on the Performance Appraisal for Office Staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Exemplifies characteristics of The BAYADA Way: compassion, excellence and reliability
  • High School Diploma and higher
  • Holds a current license in good standing as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice
  • Staff development or nursing education experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English
