About Duke Health's Patient Revenue Management Organization

 

Pursue your passion for caring with the Patient Revenue Management Organization, which is Duke Health's fully integrated, centralized revenue cycle organization that supports the entire health system in streamlining the revenue cycle. This includes scheduling, registration, coding, billing, and other essential revenue functions.

    REMOTE POSITION: Monday - Friday (First Shift)   *** MUST RESIDE IN NORTH CAROLINA***    

General Description of the Job Class:

Under minimum supervision, performs a variety of billing functions utilizing the knowledge and skills related to patient accounts of the Duke University Health Systems.   Responsible for review, research, analyzing and bringing resolution to billing and coding trends to enhance reimbursement.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level:

  • Analyze medical documentation to determine proper coding principles

 

  • Review, research and resolve complex system edits and other billing functions to ensure proper billing and coding guidelines are met

 

  • Assist with some training of  new and/or existing employees on current and future billing systems, federal, state and local government rules and regulations, and various payer guidelines

 

  • Serve as a liaison with various areas within the Health System to identify and resolve complex billing and coding errors and trends

 

  • Participate in continuous educational seminars in regards to keeping up to date on billing/payer regulations.

 

  • Utilize relevant references and/or resources (CPT, IC D, HCPCS, UB codes and other reimbursement documentation requirements for various third party payers)

 

  • Demonstrate effective verbal and legible written communications and interpersonal skills with associates, community and other customers

 

  • Knowledge of the core systems that interface information to the billing systems

 

  • Assist in testing of upgrades of software applications

 

  • Ensure strict confidentiality of patient medical and financial re cords, in compliance with federal, state and DUHS guidelines

 

  • Follow established departmental policies, procedures and objectives.

 

  • Work Maestro Care and SSI billing edits for appropriate billing.

 

 

 

  • Identify trends having a negative impact on billing or account receivables and present acco unt examples, documentation and recommendations for change improvement.< /span>

 

  • As requested by management, provide support to other employees within team or on another team to address inventory backlogs or staffing shortages< /span>

 

  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

  • Working knowledge of Managed Care contracting and payment schedules

 

  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written

 

  • Ability to systematically analyze problems, draw relevant conclusions and devise appropriate course of action

 

  • Ability to analyze data, perform multiple tasks and work independently

 

  • Must be able to develop and maintain professional, service-oriented working relationships with senior leadership, patients, physicians, co-workers and employees.
