Under the direction of a Patient Escort Dispatcher or Supervisor, the Patient Transport Lead is responsible for overseeing and performing the safe and efficient transport of patients throughout the Medical Center. This role also supports the movement of patient equipment and related materials in a fast-paced, 24/7 healthcare environment.

The Patient Transport Lead ensures timely, respectful, and seamless patient flow, contributing to a positive experience for patients and care teams. The role involves close collaboration with dispatchers, supervisors, and management to uphold departmental service standards and adhere to University policies and procedures.

Salary Range: 26.48-31.68/hr

Job Qualifications

1. BLS certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross required. 
2. Working knowledge of departmental policies and procedures on the safe transport of patients.
3. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with other staff members and all other personnel.
4. Skill in listening and comprehending information received in person, by Smart phone, Rover App, CareConnect, Pager, or over the telephone to transport patients.
5. Ability to perform all physical requirements pertaining to the transport of patients in beds, gurneys, and wheelchairs as well as some heavy equipment. Able to lift, push, pull a minimum of 150 pounds.
6. Skill in reading and writing in Standard English text such as call slips and miscellaneous clerical duties.
7. Skill in speaking clearly and distinctly using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain and convey information needed in the transport process of all patients and other items.
8. Ability to understand medical terminology.
9. Ability to operate medical equipment to perform certain job duties.
10. Ability to complete calls in a timely manner.
11. Ability to transport patients in a safe, efficient, and professional manner appropriate to good public and patient relations.
12. Ability to accept new responsibilities and work harmoniously with all hospital staff.
