Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

            Serves as a resource for other healthcare disciplines through formal and informal educational opportunities.  Develops skills necessary to function competently in the areas of pharmacy operations, clinical pharmacy, and the provision of pharmaceutical care as assessed in the following categories:

  • Practice Foundation Skills
  • Direct Patient Care
  • Drug Information and Drug Policy Development
  • Practice Management
  • Central Pharmacy Staffing

JOB SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.         Participates in the education of pharmacy students. 

Service

2.         Performs provider and patient education in a manner that is service-oriented and consistent with MGHP values.

3.         Demonstrates through leadership and support a “servant” attitude that exemplifies the philosophy, mission, values and vision of MGHP and Trinity-Health

4.     Performs functions of a pharmacist as required, including:  accurate compounding and dispensing of prescription orders, supervision of pharmacy technicians, and maintaining required records of controlled substances.

5.  Works towards achievement of Residency Learning System outcomes, goals, and objectives as set forth by ASHP.  (See attachment for goals specific to resident.)

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from an accredited college of pharmacy.  Licensed or license-eligible to practice pharmacy in the State of Michigan. A Doctor of Pharmacy degree is required. Ability to facilitate staff development through appropriate coaching, mentoring, and teaching. Ability to commit to the philosophy, values, mission, and vision of the health system. Prior hospital experience preferred (including educational clinical activities).
