About the role

Description

The Division of General Internal Medicine (GIM) and the Department of Medicine, is currently accepting online applications for up to 10 positions at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank on the Clinical Practice track.  Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW’s Faculty Code Section 24-34. While the anticipated start date is October 1, 2025, specific start date is negotiable.

These positions will be attending physicians on the Veteran’s Affairs Outpatient Primary Care Service Line. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.  All positions will include providing direct patient care, medical record documentation and billing for patient care, and clinical oversight of trainees (medical students, residents, and fellows).  In addition to clinical work, teaching, scholarship, and service are integral to all Clinical Practice positions.  The initial appointment period will be three years, at a minimum, with eligibility for renewal thereafter.  Faculty on the clinical practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30).  Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.  Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure.

Salary

This position is paid directly by the VA Puget Sound Health Care System and receives no UW compensation.  Please refer to VAPSHCS for information about compensation for this position.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a medical (MD or DO) degree (or foreign equivalent) and board certification* in Internal Medicine (or foreign equivalent). Applicants must hold or be eligible for Washington State Medical License.

*Note: Board certification in Internal Medicine must be completed within two years after residency.

Applicants must be U.S. Citizens (permanent residents may be appointed only if it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens).
