Pratt & Whitney Hot Section Engineering is seeking a proactive, goal oriented, and detail-focused project engineer to work on Operating Commercial Engine programs. This is an excellent opportunity to gain Phase 5/6 (Production/Field Support) experience, including the ability to see fist-hand how our HSE components perform in service. There is also the opportunity to work closely with the Flight Safety Team, in order to learn how risk-based decision making is applied to managing the fleet. This is a fast-paced environment where you will face new challenges on a daily basis, providing the opportunity for accelerated learning based on empirical data and observations.
Hot Section Engineering is responsible for the design, development, technology maturation and in service support of all diffuser cases, combustors, turbines (vanes, blades, rotors and cases), augmenters (military), nozzles and associated fuel systems for all military, commercial and industrial engine models and radial auxiliary power units.
Technical disciplines in HSE include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Durability and Product Definition.
In this role you will support the Integrated Product Team Leader (IPTL) for program task execution and will progress your technical knowledge and Project leadership skills to develop toward becoming a future IPTL at Pratt & Whitney.
Onsite 5 days per week in the East Hartford office
What You Will Do:
- Coordinate with IPTL and help lead one or more cross functional teams to meet task and technical requirements. Identify and addresses project problems and recommends resolutions to ensure the successful completion of projects
- Facilitate project tasks with the various functional organizations to ensure alignment with overall project objectives
- Prepare/present status and technical content to HSE Leadership, CIPT, and Pratt & Whitney Senior Leadership
- Initiate and manage hardware procurement/industrial effort as the engineering technical contact
- Coordinate evaluation and disposition of quality non-conformances and supplier requests for information
Qualifications You Must Have:
- BS in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- 5 years of engineering experience, 3 years with an advanced degree
- U.S. citizenship is required
- The ability to travel 10% of the time
Qualifications We Prefer:
- BS or Advanced degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- Experience working in the Aerospace Industry (specifically gas turbine engines), component manufacturing and associated quality requirements
- Demonstrated effectiveness in working across functions, organizations, and management
- Excellent communication skills, including verbal, technical writing, and engineering presentations to all levels
- Working proficiency with MS Office, Teamcenter, SAP, MS Project / scheduling software, and project management
