A Day in the Life
The Global Supply Chain Finance Director has responsibility for financial oversight, reporting, and strategic decision support for a global supply chain planning, inventory and SOGL. This position will partner with the Global Supply Chain organization and will serve as the primary finance support for multiple Vice Presidents. This position will support financial planning, trending, driver-based modeling and reporting for Inventory, Scrap, Obsolescence and other key metrics from across the vertically integrated supply chain from production to sales. The position will require strong financial acumen and leadership skills to shape the strategy for these operations while collaborating across the finance teams to driver improvements in working capital.Careers that Change Lives

This position will partner with the Global Supply Chain organization and will serve as the primary finance support for multiple Vice Presidents. This position will support financial planning, trending, driver-based modeling and reporting for Inventory, Scrap, Obsolescence and other key metrics from across the vertically integrated supply chain from production to sales. The position will require strong financial acumen and leadership skills to shape the strategy for these operations while collaborating across the finance teams to driver improvements in working capital.
A Day in the Life
Provide sound financial counsel to Supply Chain VPs aligning our financial goals to key strategic imperatives.
- Analyze and interpret KPIs and financial performance and make recommendations impacting operations including resource allocations to maximize working capital and financial performance. Accomplishing this will require partnership with operating units, Global Operations and Supply Chain (GOSC) stakeholders and other finance resources.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Business Development, Treasury, Tax, Regional Finance, Corporate Finance, Corporate, Group and Operating Unit Finance) as well as external stakeholders consisting of governmental bodies, Joint Venture partners, external suppliers, and auditors.
- Facilitate development and execution of plans to deliver annual cost savings
- Support the system platforms where finance is accountable for establishing and maintaining core attributes.
Lead a team to achieve both financial and business goals, using innovative and engaging leadership techniques:
- Shape and develop the team to ensure consistent high performance and foster career development
- Oversee analysis of financial performance, communication of those results, active engagement with management in improving working capital and financial performance, staying abreast of key operational projects and activities, and establishment of targets and forecasts when appropriate.
- Influencing skills required to navigate the matrix of key stakeholders across the company.
Use financial acumen and technical skills to drive continuous improvement related to key metrics and financial results:
- Ensure compliance while partnering with GOSC controllership in GAAP, local statutory accounting, SOX, as well as Medtronic’s worldwide finance policies and procedures, including oversight of balance sheet integrity, overall compliance efforts and technical guidance
- Safeguarding of assets by establishing and administering control standards required to ensure effective utilization and control of assets and capital structure
Qualifications
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting Required and 10+ years’ experience in accounting / finance with at least 5 years’ experience in a supply chain or manufacturing environment required with 7+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with 8+ years of accounting / finance experience with 7+ years of managerial experience
- Working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley and accounting standards (US GAAP, IFRS, and local statutory regulations) required
- Working in large, complex organizations (multi-national companies)
- Approximately 10-20% domestic and international business travel requi
