Your role: Working in an international team of experts with diverse backgrounds, you will collaborate with production, R&D teams, and product managers to replace chemicals in processes or products. Using the SSbD framework, you will evaluate the sustainability and safety of potential alternatives, working closely with Registration Experts, Regulatory & Computational Toxicologists, and Life Cycle Assessment Experts to gather results. This interdisciplinary role requires strong communication and collaboration skills to be effective and to communicate results to internal stakeholders and external partners. You will also stay updated on SSbD advancements and integrate new developments into the innovation process.

 

Who you are:

  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in sustainability, toxicology, chemistry, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience.
  • Expertise and experience in sustainable chemistry and green chemistry principles.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing sustainable chemical substitution strategies.
  • Excellent knowledge of SSbD concepts including hazard assessment, exposure assessment, risk assessment, environmental sustainability assessment, and social and economic sustainability assessment.
  • Familiarity with common exposure assessment models (e.g., ECETOC TRA, EUSES in Chesar, Merlin Expo, ConsExpo, etc.) for assessing human exposure and environmental fate of chemicals.
  • Knowledge of Life Cycle Assessment and corresponding tools and databases (e.g., SimaPro, GaBi, OpenLCA, COMPASS) is advantageous.
  • Background in the scientific basis and approaches for assessing socio-economic sustainability is an advantage.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with a collaborative mindset.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
