JOB SUMMARY/OVERVIEW
The Senior Payroll Tax Specialist, Reporting will assist in all aspects of tax reporting compliance activities as they relate to a Professional Employer Organization (PEO). The person in this position will remit payroll tax, audit tax records, respond to internal inquiries regarding tax compliance, assist in ensuring internal employees and PEO tax accounts are compliant, have a solid understanding of filing federal payroll tax credit programs including but not limited to the IRS Path Act R&D Tax Credit, Employer Retention Credits, Paid Sick and Family Leave Tax Credits, Cobra premium Assistance through the following duties. The role requires working Salesforce cases to resolve customer inquiries with written communication and verbal client calls.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Report federal multi-state and local tax liabilities timely and accurately, adhering to both state and agency policies and guidelines.
- Verify federal multi-state and local tax deposits are accurate and timely.
- Analyze data at quarter/year end for accuracy, document as required for SOX controls and work in a Teams group session to complete reporting.
- Meet service level agreements (SLA’s) according to department policy timeline guidelines.
- Problem solving aptitude with demonstrated ability to analyze problems, think critically, and the confidence to propose effective solutions.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly while remaining patient and composed even in challenging situation.
- Demonstrate exceptional ability to actively listen to customers/internal colleagues, ask clarifying questions and show a genuine interest to work towards appropriate solutions.
- Follows verbal and written instruction with precision with the confidence to ask clarifying questions when needed.
- Highly adaptable and flexible who embraces change and can quickly adjust to new situations and priorities. Proven experience in successfully managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
- Exceptional ability to assess and prioritize tasks based on urgency, importance by assessing the impact of departmental goals.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to self-direct to prioritize tasks effectively in a remote work environment.
- Enjoys a collaborative team environment of approx. 60% Teams group call work sessions/40% individually directed tasks.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in finance or-related field desired, or equivalent education and/or related work experience
Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates):
Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) and/or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)-Preferred
Experience:
2+ years’ experience in Payroll/Payroll Tax
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Exceptional level of proficiency in MS Excel, using Excel
