Overview  The CDC Foundation is seeking candidates for a full-time National Health Care Safety Network (NHSN) Epidemiologist Lead for the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) to provide expertise for healthcare associated infections within the Division of Patient Safety & Quality. The NHSN Epidemiologist Lead will conduct analyses and monitor data collected on a variety of health care-associated infections, drug-resistant organisms, and antimicrobial use for the state of Illinois. Qualifications•A Doctorate (PhD) or Medical (MD) degree from an accredited college or university in epidemiology, public health, preventive medicine and at least two (2) years of relevant work experience performing epidemiologic work or work in a closely related field OR;Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Sciences, Social Sciences, or Statistics and five (5) years in Public Health to include data analysis and linking methodology with preferred coursework with at least two courses in epidemiology covering additional epidemiology principles, methods and design concepts or at least two courses in statistical design and methods courses for the behavioral sciences or at least two publications in two different peer-reviewed journals, and at least one course in biostatistics or other research-oriented statistics course.•Proficiency in SAS, SPSS, STATA, R Studio or other statistical software.•Proficiency in writing comprehensive statistical and analytical reports.•Possess strong data management and analysis skills. •Experience conducting research on epidemiology of infectious diseases.  •Experience with data visualization (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is preferred. •Experience with Geographic Information Systems (e.g., ArcGIS) is preferred. •Experience working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and engaging in strategic partnerships.•Excellent written and oral communications.•Ability to prepare clear and concise reports for professional audiences.•Ability to travel within the region to meet with public health partners and stakeholders to provide technical support, education, and other subject matter expertise.  •Strong cultural competency and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in an environment with diverse cultures, multiple perspectives, and competing needs.•Ability to anticipate roadblocks and independently resolve.•Travel up to 10% of the time within the state of Illinois. •Must have and maintain a valid, current Driver’s License, automobile insurance, and reliable private transportation.
